Product Description

Double gate — also known as double swing gate or vehicle gate — has two leaf panels that swing open from the center on hinges, allowing both pedestrian and vehicle access. As a leading metal gate supplier, we build double gate as the wider-opening counterpart to our single gate line: by splitting the total width across two leaves, it covers driveway and vehicle entrances that a single-leaf gate can't span efficiently, while needing less swing clearance per leaf than an equivalent-width single gate.

The gate panel can be supplied in several infill styles — welded mesh, chain link mesh, 358 security mesh, steel tubular, or double wire mesh — each suited to a different balance of security, visibility, and appearance. See the comparison below to find the style that matches your application.

Features:

Security — Provides a robust barrier against unauthorized access; security level varies by panel style, with tighter mesh openings offering stronger anti-climb and anti-cut resistance.

CustomizationSize, panel style, mesh opening, and color can all be configured to match the architectural style of the property.

Easy InstallationInstallation tools and instructions are provided; splitting the opening across two leaves also keeps individual panel weight more manageable during installation than a single very wide leaf.

Anti-Corrosion — Hot-dip galvanized and powder-coated surface treatment is designed to resist rust for many years under normal outdoor conditions.

Durability — Built from high-quality welded steel tube and wire for long-term strength.

Double Gate vs Single Gate — Why Width Matters

The deciding factor between single and double gate is usually opening width and available swing clearance. A single gate needs clear depth equal to its full leaf width to swing open, which becomes impractical for wide vehicle entrances — a 4m single leaf needs 4m of clear space behind it. A double gate splits that same 4m opening into two 2m leaves, each needing only about half the swing clearance, which makes it the more practical choice for driveways and vehicle access points, especially on sites where space behind the gate is limited.

Double gate is also the better choice whenever vehicle access is required, since single gates are generally sized for pedestrian openings rather than vehicle widths.

Choosing the Right Gate Panel Style

The panel style you choose affects security level, visibility, and overall appearance.

358 security mesh has the tightest, smallest mesh opening of the available styles, making it the hardest to climb or get a foothold on — the preferred choice for high-security sites like industrial facilities or any application where anti-climb performance matters most.

Double wire mesh uses a twin-wire construction that resists cutting and tampering better than single-wire mesh, making it a strong choice for commercial properties or sites where vandal resistance is a priority alongside reasonable visibility.

Welded mesh and chain link mesh offer a balance of cost, visibility, and moderate security, commonly used for general residential or commercial vehicle entrances.

Steel tubular panel is the most open, decorative option — offering the best visibility and a more traditional or architectural look, at the cost of lower anti-climb security compared to mesh styles.

FAQs

What's the difference between double gate and single gate?

Double gate has two leaves that swing open from the center, while single gate has one leaf. Double gate is the better choice for wider openings or vehicle access, since splitting the width across two leaves reduces the swing clearance needed per leaf compared to a single very wide leaf.

How much clearance does a double gate need to open?

Each leaf needs swing clearance roughly equal to its own width — for a 4m total opening split into two 2m leaves, you'd need about 2m of clear space on each side for the leaves to swing fully open.

Which panel style should I choose for a high-security site?

358 security mesh offers the tightest mesh opening of our available styles, making it the most resistant to climbing or gripping — it's the typical choice for industrial sites or other high-security applications.

Can double gate be automated?

Yes. Double gate can be fitted with hinge-mounted arm operators or underground actuators for automatic operation, controlled via remote control or integrated with other access control systems.

Can gate height, width, and panel style be mixed and matched?

Yes. Height, total width, panel style, mesh opening, post type, and color can all be configured independently to match your project's security and aesthetic requirements.

How long will the gate last before it rusts?

Under normal outdoor conditions, the hot-dip galvanized and powder-coated finish is designed to resist corrosion for many years. Actual lifespan depends on local climate — let us know if you're in a coastal or high-humidity region for a coating recommendation.

Do you provide installation guidance or drawings?

Yes. A downloadable drawing is available on this page, installation tools and instructions are included, and our design team can provide drawings based on your site dimensions.
