Product Description

Sheep panel — also known as livestock panel or sheep fence panel — is a welded farm fence panel built from heavy-duty galvanized steel tube, engineered for strength and resistance to weathering, rust, and corrosion. It's available in round, square, and oval tube profiles, and is widely used for sheep and goat pens, lambing areas, and pasture boundaries.

Compared to cattle panel, sheep panel is typically built lower in height and with tighter rail spacing — sheep and goats don't push against fencing with the same force as cattle, but they're smaller and more prone to slipping through wide gaps or getting a head caught, so containment security depends more on spacing than raw structural strength. The welded tubular frame still gives the panel a rigid, freestanding structure that's easy to set up into pens without digging post holes along every section.

Features:

Durability and StrengthConstructed from heavy-duty steel tube with welded joints, built to resist bending and sagging under everyday flock pressure.

Versatile Applications — Suited to sheep and goat pens, lambing jugs, sorting areas, and pasture boundaries; tighter rail spacing helps prevent smaller or younger animals from slipping through.

Easy Installation and MaintenancePre-welded panels connect with basic tools and pins, and can be repositioned more easily than fixed wire-roll fencing — useful for rotating pens or seasonal paddocks.

Anti-Corrosion — Hot-dip galvanized or powder-coated surface treatment is designed to resist rust under normal outdoor conditions; coating thickness can be specified for coastal or high-humidity regions.

Safety for Livestock — Smooth tube surfaces and welded joints reduce the risk of injury to sheep and goats compared to sharp-edged or loosely tensioned fencing.

Matching Panels to Your Application

Use CaseRecommended Setup
Lambing jug / interior sorting penShorter height (1.0–1.2m), standard rail spacing
Pasture boundary / general flock containmentMid height (1.2–1.4m), 6-rail
Perimeter fencing with predator pressureTaller height (1.4–1.5m), 7-rail for tighter spacing
Mixed sheep and goat pen7-rail configuration with secure bottom connection to deter climbing

Installation

Sheep panels connect using U lugs, L lugs, and connecting pins, allowing sections to be joined into pens or runs without welding on site. Panels can be anchored with steel posts driven into the ground for permanent pens, or used as a freestanding modular system for portable paddocks and rotational grazing setups. For pens housing goats, a secure pin-and-clip connection at the base is recommended, since goats will test and push against low points more persistently than sheep. Rain caps on open tube ends help prevent water ingress and internal corrosion over time.

FAQs

What's the difference between sheep panel and cattle panel?

Sheep panel is generally shorter and uses tighter rail spacing than cattle panel, since sheep and goats are smaller and more likely to slip through wide gaps, while cattle exert more force and need taller, more heavily-built panels. Sheep don't typically require the same wall thickness or tube gauge as cattle panel, since they don't push against fencing with the same pressure.

Can cattle panel be used for sheep instead?

It can work for general containment, but the wider rail spacing on standard cattle panels may not stop lambs or kids from slipping through. If your pen will house younger or smaller animals, a sheep-specific panel with tighter spacing is the safer choice.

What height should I choose for my pens?

Shorter panels (around 1.0–1.2m) are usually sufficient for interior pens like lambing jugs or sorting areas. Taller panels (1.4–1.5m) are recommended for perimeter fencing or pens exposed to predator pressure from dogs or other animals.

Do goats need a different panel than sheep?

Goats are more likely to climb and test weak points than sheep, so closer rail spacing and a secure bottom connection are worth prioritizing for mixed sheep-and-goat pens, even if the overall height requirement is similar.

Can panel height, width, or tube profile be customized?

Yes. While the table above shows our standard production range, height, width, tube diameter, and rail spacing can be adjusted to match your specific flock size and application.

How long will the panel last before it rusts?

Under normal outdoor conditions, hot-dip galvanized panels are designed to resist corrosion for many years before maintenance is needed. Powder-coated panels add a further protective layer. Actual lifespan depends on local climate and coating thickness — let us know if you're in a coastal or high-humidity region so we can recommend the right coating.

Do you provide connecting accessories?

Yes. U lugs, L lugs, rain caps, and connecting pins are available to join panels into pens, runs, or sorting areas.

What colors are available besides standard galvanized finish?

Panels can be supplied in over 200 RAL colors with a powder coating finish, in addition to standard hot-dip galvanizing, depending on your project's environmental and visual requirements.

Do you provide drawings or technical datasheets?

Yes, a downloadable drawing is available on this page, and we can provide a full technical datasheet — including wall thickness and coating specifications — matched to your selected configuration.

Specification

Choosing the Right Sheep Panel Specification

Sheep and goats are generally lighter on a fence than cattle, so panel selection comes down to height and rail spacing rather than raw structural strength. A shorter panel is usually sufficient for interior pens, sorting areas, or lambing jugs where animals aren't under predator pressure, while a taller panel with tighter rail spacing is the better choice for perimeter fencing or any pen exposed to dogs or other predators, since the goal there is keeping threats out as much as keeping the flock in.

If you're housing goats alongside sheep, keep in mind goats are more prone to climbing and testing weak points, so closer rail spacing and a secure bottom connection are worth prioritizing even if the overall height requirement is similar to sheep.
